The bible says that the wages of sin is death. Because of our sin we deserve eternal death but God gave us eternal life through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. His sacrifice was to atone for all of our sins, past, present, and future. All we have to do is repent and accept Jesus. His sacrifice is sufficient for all but efficient only for those who accept it. Step toward eternal life today with Jesus Christ.

Tough days pass by and are overcome through Jesus. Just need to focus and rejoice.

Must remember this always. I am dead to myself and alive in Christ. My life is for his glory and will and not my own desires and pleasures. I must remain dead to myself and focus on the hope God has set before me. It’s tough but it’ll be worth it.

Sometimes these verses are used as references to being missionaries across the world, and I agree. But there is another understanding of theses verses that was revealed to me during a conference a couple of years ago. The verse says go and make disciples of all nations so yes the bible says that all nations will be discipled but the act of discipleship is not just a conversion, confession, and leave. It is a life long commitment between a mentor and disciple. Elijah was a tremendous mentor to elisha and mentored him until the day he was taken in the chariot. Jesus had many disciples and notice he gave this commission at the end of the book. He was not living physically on the earth anymore. So discipleship is not something you do on a short missions trip. It’s something you do wherever you plant yourself. If you are a long term missionary somewhere or a constantly traveling missionary or even if you are planted at a local church, the task is ministering to people and getting consistently there to help them see and understand what living for Jesus is. No matter who we are our what we have done we can accomplish this task cause Jesus gave us some pretty basic instruction. Teach them what he has taught us, which means dig into the word of God with them. And second do not worry for he is with us always until the end of the age.
God has given us a task to share the gospel with people and walk with them through life. Can you think of someone who has done this for you? If so you should thank that person if you can and also pay the deed forward. Do the same for someone else. If we all mentor just one person we double the amount of people hearing the word of God. Be brave and bold. Go do it for Jesus!

There is a song that has a line saying, “create in me a clean heart, o God.” The song stands out to me because as I’ve continued on the walk with Jesus this portion of my life is still being worked on. Sometimes I catch myself speaking harsh words to people and sometimes I don’t notice at all. I wondered why I speak so harshly to people and try my best to change it but the book of Matthew reveals that I can’t change that with my own effort. I must change my heart. Sometimes when speaking to people my heart is filled with pain from my past or emotion from something and I allow it to be bigger than God’s love on my heart so my words come out rude and blunt. Even when speaking the truth you can be right in what you say but wrong in how you say it, and I had that issue. The next step in moving forward is focusing on Jesus and his love so my heart may be overflowing with the things of him so I may encourage people and not hurt with my words. I need to die to the sin and the worldly things in my heart so they may no longer influence my life and words. I need to be alive in Jesus and let him be the only one I attach my heart to, let him have my heart and keep it. My struggle is not special or super different from anyone else. Its something I think others have an issue with too and this is the time to work together to overcome all things in Christ. The thought today is about ourselves and what comes out of our mouths. To pour out love from our mouths we need to overflow with love in our hearts. To present God and his love to others we need to allow him to our into our lives and consume our hearts completely. It’s not easy, but that’s why we are the body of Christ, we support each other and help each other move toward Jesus. Help me, keep me accountable in my words and actions toward others, encourage me, and do so to others around you as well. If we all work together in Jesus, we can change anything.

Paul was imprisoned and persecuted while writing much of the new testament and suffered greatly. To the Philippians he wrote about his suffering and how it would be easier to site and be with Christ but God has left him alive to minister for the benefit of the people. The apostle Paul lived his life ready to die for the gospel even if it meant suffering and torment. He put God’s calling above everything else, including his own life because he knew that God would take care of him and guide him. The worst that could happen to Paul was death, which would be joyous as he would be with the Lord. Paul lived in the present with his mind geared toward eternity. He lived dead to the world and alive in Christ. Paul was an example and role model for us all today. His actions encourage us to step out of our bubbles and lay everything down, including our lives, so God may use us in ways we never thought possible. It is not a one day or one time event though. Everyday we must fight ourselves and surrender to God so he can use us fully. Let’s start a movement. A movement of believers surrendering everything to God and being the example for others as well in hope of impacting the sunday christians and making them everyday disciples. The process is long and difficult but if everyone does it we will have help and will be able to support each other. There is probably one person on your mind right now that you desire to minister to and help grow in Jesus. Challenge yourself and just do it. But remember, every time you want to minister to others about something, it starts within yourself first. A movement impact starts with impacting yourself. Tag someone.

God is calling for us to give him or best. But sometimes we get worried about ourselves and become selfish. We begin to hold back from God so that we may live in our own comfort. God is our creator and our Lord who can provide more than enough, more than we could ever imagine. He can give us true comfort but when we are giving him our second best we are showing that we would rather serve ourselves instead of him. We make ourselves a god over God. God deserves our best and is righteous in blessing those who bless him. He has given the commandments and he must be just and cannot bless those who ignore them. When we make ourselves a god we are committing idolatry. Let’s move on from this worldly mindset and begin giving God our best. Obedience is our spiritual act of worship so let’s be so. Living dead, laying down our lives, putting God first, they all mean that in everything you do you are doing your best to give God the glory and not holding anything back. God is greater than I so I will do anything and everything he asks me to, no exceptions. You won’t be perfect at it but God looks at effort not efficiency. Just be willing and try, God will give you the strength and have to do the rest.

In life are you following God who has promised everlasting life and has provided for us even when we don’t realize it? God is good to us and even in times of struggles he is there sustaining us, strengthening us. He loves us and wants to be the king of our lives. But we are like the people of Israel and sometimes we don’t let God truly be our king. We put other things above him and worship him when it is convenient for us. The time has come to step out of our comfort zones and live fully submitted to God, lay down our lives and let him be our king. Life on earth is so temporary and short so we should not look to the things of this world as important but rather look to God and let him guide our lives. Money, relationships, popularity, they all fade away when you die. But God is everlasting and so is the life he gives spiritually. Lately my heart has been convicted to truly lay down everything to serve the God who created me. It is hard but the result of trying is a blessed freedom and joy knowing that the pains I may feel now are temporary and will fade when I face God and hear him say “well done my good and faithful servant.” God is so much better than anything we can come up with on our own in life. Let’s give him control of our lives and live in obedience to our true king.
